Philadelphia’s Latinx communities are diverse, deeply rooted, and often underserved. Latinx children are constantly moving across linguistic and cultural boundaries, absorbing, interpreting, and translating. Working together with the Spanish-speaking healthcare nonprofit Puentes de Salud, A Book a Day donates and distributes free of charge a range of high quality, hardback picture books in Spanish that speak to the variety of Latinx cultural identities. In this program, children select their own books, and have expressed that they connect to these authentic stories and feel inspired by the vibrant visuals and illustrations.
